Take Two & You Do You!



For this challenge you must create two icons using any two (or more) images from any posts by the mods and members at the image posting communities capspiration and/or capshare, during the past twelve months.
But, after you do that you may enter up to three "artist's choice" complete and total free-for-all icons.
So, it's take two then you do you!


Special Rules for Challenge 163:

How To Do the "Take Two"

For this challenge you must create two icons using images as described below, if you want to enter.

Please pick two images with the following restrictions:

Any screen cap from a post from capspiration from within this time period:

November 1st, 2021 to November 25th, 2022

(I'll import the Capspiration LJ posts from Nov 25th on the 26th.)


Any posts from anyone at capshare from the same time period.
There were no posts in Nov 2021 so the archive link is for December.

December 2021 to November 25th, 2022


For capshare only - please use images that are in the journal posts - no zip files.
I will not check download files to check if the images qualify.

Special Rule for community mods/posters:

If you are a mod or poster at capspiration or capshare, please do not use your own posts for the "take two" part of the challenge (this includes me).
This main part of this challenge is to try to use two screen caps picked by someone other than yourself.


Please add links:
When posting your entry please include a link to the two posts at the other communities with the images you used.

You could also link to your own chosen source images, like if you want others to witness your amazing image editing abilities, but it is not required to link any caps other than the two you take from the communities.

I've been waiting for capicontest to come back, so it's nice to be able to do something with last month's caps now.

I would be like I'm rigging things, even though, when I pick a screen cap it doesn't mean I can edit it in a great way. Usually, the opposite is true!

lol yes, same! The sample caps I post to cap sharing communities are to show the range of caps/characters in the zip, not to be the best ones for iconing. (although maybe capspiration might be different, idk.)

also, it occurs to me that i haven't posted anything to capshare in ages, i only post to cdramacaps these days. *shrug*

Well, you still have time, depending on your timezone. If you make a post at capshare before the 26th the screen caps can be in this challenge.

well, considering magicrubbish posted all their caps to both comms, i can crosspost my kinnporsche caps. would probably be worth it, to see some kinnporsche icons.

Great, but please remember, zipped-filed ones can't be in the challenge.
Edit: Oh, never mind I forgot that capshare doesn't allow zip files only.

yeah I read the rules. I have a dozen preview pics in every post, which can then hopefully be used here.

I hope the preview pics under the cut can be larger than 400x400, it didn't say. I made the one above the cut smaller to fit the rules. It also didn't say anything about nsfw images, but i tagged the posts as 18+, i hope that is how it's supposed to be done.

Okay, well I dunno about that, but I do not allow any 18+ content in iconthat entry icons. I don't mean the rating of the movie or show just the images in the icons.

Yes, I know. Not all the preview images are nsfw, obviously, but some are, so I had to check the capshare rules about that.

Pics under the cut can be as large as you want, just add the width="" in the tag so it doesn’t bork the layout.

Is it okay the way I did it? the img tag doesn't have a width attribute, but the images themselves are sized to 800x800 by dw - and they're single-column, so the layout shouldn't suffer?

At least it looks okay for me. But I can add a width tag, if that works better/is a more general solution.

to clarify, can we make multiple icons using multiple images from each comm? for instance, could i make two icons of two caps from capspiration and the same for capshare? thanks

Yes, you could use as many caps from there as you would like.
Like, you could make up to five icons (including your artist's choice ones) using only capshare and/or capspiration as a source instead of looking elsewhere.

If you make your artist's choice ones using images from there, the date of the posts does not matter. You may then use caps that were in posts from 2017 if you wanted.
Anything goes for the "you do you" part.

And yes, you can use one picture from each community if you're only making the "take two" icons.

The only real requirement this time is making the first two icons entered, with caps posted at those communities during the time period I stated. :-)

Okay I just realized that I have an icon in my artist's choice for this challenge that actually qualifies to be an entry, can I switch out one of my entries for it?

Yes, everyone is always allowed do anything they want to with their entry icons (change, remove, add more etc.) until the challenge is over. :)

You're welcome! But, I think misunderstood your question? Yes is still the answer, but everyone may submit to have 2 to 5 icons in the voting. The "take two" icons must be entered into the challenge first, and the "you do you" ones (up to 3 artist's choice) are optional. But all five icons will be in the voting. Unless they are posted and labeled alternates or rejects.

When I first read your comment, I thought you were talking about changing some of your alternates to be your entries.

I think I misunderstood what would be in the voting. Thought it was just #1 and #2. But regardless the ones I switched out are good to go as is unless I decide I really want to give that one another go.
