Most of the communities I'm on have a "don't vote for yourself or encourage others to vote for you" rule, and I wanted to see if that was also true here. Is it?

i think that's probably polite, but i'm not going to be checking for that.
edit, sorry i think that sounded a little soft about it, I don't WANT that to happen, and i'll edit it in the rules, but again i can't stop it either?

I probably sounded too pissy in my comment -- that's what I get for trying to ask a question here while I'm in an argument on an entirely different topic on another thread. Sorry!

It only came up because I like one of my icons enough that it would probably be in my top three if I could vote for it. I wouldn't want to *not* vote for it if that was okay -- and I wanted to check.

I'm not worried about whether you enforce the rules -- honestly, that's a lot of work, and I figure if people try to game the rules here it'll be pretty obvious in the long run. I just wanted to know if it was left out of the rules *deliberately*, so people could vote for their own.

Yeah i'm not opposed to people voting for themselves; some people like it, some people don't, i can see reasons for and against it. my general opinion is that you're automatically going to prefer your style because that's why you make things the way you do and if your icon is going to win it probably doesn't need that extra vote.

but it gets tricky if everyone ends up voting for one of their icons or some people don't vote for themselves even if they believe theirs is the best etcetc and its just easier not to have it.

but generally? i'm not going to check to see if you voted for yourself. So if that's what someone wants, well ok, lol
